The Alice Garg National Seashell Museum,
a brand new attraction for one and all, inaugurated recently- on 2nd December, 2006. The Museum, an exclusive one on seashells and the only one of its kind in India, has a very rich collection of around 3,000 species from all the seas/oceans of the world, displayed very nicely with information on their common as well as scientific names. It has the biggest bivalvia Giant Clam from Indian Ocean weighing over 100 kilograms, the largest gastropoda Auatralian Trumpet from the Australian seas and thousands of other species in different sizes, shapes and colours. Besides these, the Museum also displays some of the finest art pieces made from waste seashells collected from beaches. We also have a small museum shop selling posters, postcards, videos and some of the shell-craft. The Museum compares very well with seashell museums in Europe, U.S.A. and Asia. We are positive that those visiting the museum would carry a good memory of it.
