Q1 I cannot log in to Holiday Notice Board

All new pages are automatically set up with the latest version of the page which includes the booking calendar and the facility to change photos, prices and other details. Changes to descriptive text should be emailed to us.

Once payment is received you will be supplied with  a password . Please check the following if there is a difficulty logging in before emailing for assistance.

1) Your username and password is case sensitive.  You must use capital letters if they exist in your username or password.
It is possible to use all lower case usernames and passwords but they must be set up that way.

2) Check that the Caps Lock is not on.

3) Check your username is exactly the same as the email in your web page.
If you have more than one email address you must use the one you registered with us.

4) Still having problems?  Click on forgotton password and a new one will be emailed to you.  Your email as used in your web page must be in the username box and the password should be blank when you do this.

5)  I tried all this but still having problems.
"Invalid Username" message. This could be a problem with your ISP or internet connection. Try again later.

6). Tried everything but still no good.  Please note any messages which appear on your screen. Email me or call me on the phone.  I will try and help you.

Q2 How do I enter new dates in the calendar.

Once you have logged in just add the dates to the boxes one booking at a time and then click on [Add Booking].
Dates must be valid and in dd/mm/yyyy format.
eg. 10/01/2006 01/02/2006
You cannot use 10/1/2006 1/2/2006 01/02/06  02/30/2006 or 30/02/2006.

The end date is the morning of departure and that date will not be shown as booked on the calendar as it will normally be available for a new holiday starting the same day.
Allow a few seconds for the screen to refresh after each booking then scroll down to check the booking has appeared on the calendar and is the correct colour.
Blue for a confirmed booking.
Pink is provisional e.g. if waiting for deposit.
Green means the date is available.
Red means there is a double booking.
Usually you will have simply added a booking twice.  Check the list of bookings and delete the extra one.

Q3 I do not want to confirm every booking separately all my bookings are firm?

Simply add a Y to the Confirmed Box when you add the booking.

Q4 How can I confirm a booking later when I receive a deposit?

Simply look at your list of bookings and alongside the date which you wish to confirm you will see a reference.  Type the reference into the box marked Ref. and click on [Confirm Booking].

Q5 My client has cancelled and I need to delete the booking from the calendar?

Use the same technique as in Q4 but this time after adding the Ref click the [Cancel Booking] button.

Q6 I have put the wrong date in and need to change it?

Simply delete the booking as in Q5 and then re-add it to the system.

Q7 I have dates in my booking calendar which have turned red rather than pink.

This is due to the insertion of overlapping dates and is intended to warn you of a double booking, most likely the last date you entered overlaps with a previous booking.
You will need to delete the incorrect date as above.

Q8 Can I use my booking calendar on my own website

Yes, See Instructions here

Q9 I get a message that says unable to connect to database please try later?

The server which keeps the information about your bookings is either busy or has gone out of service due to a fault. The servers we use use are maintained by a leading UK company and are rarely unavailable for long but faults do occur from time to time..

Q10 How can I make a printout of my booking calendar?

We reccommend that you print out your booking calendar from time to time so you have a copy of your bookings. Whilst we and our service providers look after the service with reasonable care the unexpected can happen so you need to keep your own record of bookings.

Internet Explorer will not print out the booking table in color but if you use Netscape / Firefox Vers 6 or higher it will print in color.
If you want a color print from Internet Explorer simply use the Print Screen key to copy the screen to the Windows Clipboard. Now open word or a suitable graphics software and Edit Paste the image into the software. You can now print it or save it as a file on your computer.

Q11 How can I change a photo on my web page,  I have just been to my villa on holiday and have taken some really good photos with the new furnishings on?

You can now change certain items in your Holiday Noticeboard webpage by simply logging on. and selecting the edit facility, you can change photos, prices, your telphone no etc.  You cannot change the wording of your main text this way or your email address, changes to these need to be sent to us by email.

Q12 I'd like to change the text on my web page.  I have thought of something better?

It's a great idea to change you text from time to time.  Text is important to how your page is indexed by the seach engines.  Try and use phrases or names you think people will search for in your text to get the best response.
More hits from seach engines will mean more bookings for you. You can simply send your new text to me by email. Please quote the number of your page.

Q13 I've got a problem which is preventing me letting my property for the next few weeks / months. I do not want to answer any more emails or phone calls.

Just contact us by phone or email.  We can temporarily remove your page from display while you recover from an illness or sort out other problems.

Q14 How can I improve the number of hits on my page and hence the number of bookings.

At Holiday Noticeboard we go to a lot of trouble to get pages indexed in search engines and to get the pages displayed in a professional manner, however you will realise that there are now a lot of properties on offer so you will need to work at letting your property if you want to be really sucessful.

You can improve the visibility of your page in a number of ways

If you have control or influence over other websites have a link put on them to point to your holidaynoticeboard page, the linking text is very important
eg aircon detached villa in the thriving town of Ciudad Quesada
is better than
show288.php
alhough they might both point to your page.
You can also make good use of your website address in other advertising, this can be elsewhere on the internet where you may be able to include a link in free lineage ads or in your local paper where a large advert with photos would be very costly but for a few pounds you can give brief details of your villa with the web address where prospective clients can find comprehensive details.
Internet newsgroups, chat groups and bulletin boards can also be a useful way of getting low cost links or a mention of your holiday property but do avoid posts which are wildly off topic as these will only annoy the moderators and result in deletions.

Q15 What photos are best included on the page.

Your careful selection of quality photos is very important.  Please make a special effort to take interior views of your rooms using different angles and lighting. Use the three or four best interior photos and two or three exterior ones. A good pool photo is an ideal choice for one.

Interior photos are best taken with a wide angle lens, if your camera is a model which does not support screw on lenses check these
